Outdoor Recreation
Morgan County is located on the banks of the Tennessee River and Wheeler Lake, providing endless opportunity for fishing, boating, water skiing and other activities. With 35,000 acres, Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge provides opportunities for observing wildlife, bird-watching, fishing, hunting, boating, and bicycling. A great place to go hiking, the Refuge has five interpretive hiking trails. Recreation facilities abound throughout the community. These include the 750-acre Point Mallard Park and Aquatic Center, neighborhood recreation centers and numerous golf courses.

Golf
Morgan County is home to four public and two private 18 hole courses. The Point Mallard Golf Course, one of the public courses in Morgan County, is ranked as one of the best three public golf courses in the state by the PGA. Morgan County is also located close to several Robert Trent Jones golf courses in North Alabama.

Shopping
Growth in the retail sector has kept pace with industrial expansion and Morgan County residents enjoy a variety of shopping options from the shopping convenience of an indoor mall to strip malls to a variety of specialty stores and historic downtown shopping districts. The retail sector provides strong support for the economy as well.
